At KARA Energy Systems, we understand that logistics and storage are crucial aspects for an optimally functioning biomass energy concept. A carefully planned logistics concept ensures an effective and efficient process, ultimately leading to improved performance and increased profitability. We offer customized, smart solutions that streamline your entire logistics process. From storage and size reduction to transport and delivery to the combustion chamber, we ensure that every step fits seamlessly.
A moving floor is an advanced solution for storing biomass and automatically metering and transporting fuel to a chain scraper or conveyor screw. This system ensures that the combustion chamber is continuously and efficiently supplied with biomass.
The conveyor belt consists of several independently moving arms with blocks that propel the biomass. The hydraulically connected cross-sectional cylinders ensure that the arms do not move in the same direction simultaneously, which pulls the wood pack apart and prevents blockages. This ensures an even biomass flow to the chain scraper or conveyor auger and guarantees a reliable, efficient feed to the combustion chamber for an optimal process.
Our silos are ideal for storing fine-mesh biomass. They are constructed of concrete or steel, with the choice of material and design depending on the installation location and the distance to neighboring buildings, ensuring compliance with all fire safety regulations.
Our chip silos are constructed from monolithic reinforced concrete and are equipped with integrated blast openings, silo doors, silo hatches, viewing windows, and recesses for mechanization. These silos comply with the latest regulatory requirements, including F90 fire protection and explosion protection according to VDI 3673.
In addition to the silo itself, we offer a complete delivery including access ladders, steel platforms, railings, and fire extinguishing equipment. This ensures you have a safe and efficient storage solution for your biomass.
The screw-out device is used in a silo. It's designed to evenly move a specific amount of material to fill the combustion chamber.
The auger is mounted in the center of the silo's bottom. An arm attached to the device rotates slowly across the bottom. As the auger or chain rotates, material is moved to the center housing where it enters the dosing auger.
For large quantities of biomass to be dumped, KARA offers solutions in combination with a transport worm at the bottom of the dumping pit.
A heavy-duty auger is placed at the bottom of a dumping pit to ensure that the deposited biomass can be moved from the bottom of the pit. The heavy-duty auger can rotate continuously, transporting the biomass to the incinerator.
A craneway (or overhead crane) is designed for picking up and moving large quantities of biomass from dumping pits or storage areas. A craneway is most often used when the biomass needs to be transferred to a hopper for transport to the combustion chamber.
The overhead crane rolls on wheels along support rails. A crane track is often equipped with sensors to detect the location and height of the biomass. Thanks to a smart control program, the crane track can operate fully automatically, activated by the energy consumption of Kara's combustion plant.
A scraper chain is an effective tool for transporting biomass, such as from a silo to a combustion chamber. This system is primarily used for larger quantities of biomass and can handle both fine and coarse material. The scraper chain can be installed either horizontally or diagonally, often to transport the biomass towards the combustion chamber.
The scraper chain is equipped with so-called "drivers" that propel the biomass. These drivers are attached to a chain that runs across the floor of a metal container. With their robust design and high capacity, scraper chains are an essential component in biomass transport, suitable for both small and large installations.
