New biomass plant on the way
Reading time 3 minutes
A new biomass plant has left our production site in Almelo. The destination: Lahr, Germany. Here, the KARA plant will become part of a new biomass power plant for MVV Enamic GmbH and Rubinmühle.
The unique aspect of this project is the fuel. The installation will convert oat husk, a residual product from Rubinmühle's own production process, into sustainable energy. In this way, a local waste stream is given a valuable new application within the same production process.
The installation will soon deliver:
- Up to 5 tons of steam per hour
- 3.5 MW thermal power
- Approximately 4,800 tonnes of CO₂ reduction per year
- Oat husk as local biomass fuel
Circularity in practice
This project clearly demonstrates how biomass can contribute to a circular production process. Instead of disposing of the oat husks as a waste stream, they are used locally as fuel for energy generation.
In this way, a residual product from the production process is reused within that same process.
After months of engineering and production in Almelo, the next phase is now beginning: installation and realization on site in Lahr.
Off to Lahr!
