The discussion on energy independence is more relevant than ever. Rising energy prices, pressure on the electricity grid, and geopolitical developments are forcing companies to take a critical look at their energy supply. At KARA, this is not a vision for the future, but daily practice.

 

The timber industry has been working on smart and self-sustaining energy solutions for decades. KARA also leverages this approach by making optimal use of residual streams from its own production process. Wood residues that cannot be processed further are given a second life as biomass. This biomass is used to generate heat, which is then directly reused in the production process – for example, for drying processes – and for heating buildings.

 

This approach brings together several important themes:

  • Energy independence – less dependent on external energy sources
  • Circularity – maximizing the use of internal waste streams
  • Local energy supply – generation and use take place on-site

 

The result is a robust, efficient, and future-proof system that has proven itself in practice for many years.
